A brand identity for social enterprise Make It Write

The problem:

Make it Write is a social enterprise that provides free stationery to children in rural schools because it believes every child should have the right to write, learn and create. While the brand had a strong vision and exciting ambitions, it lacked a powerful brand identity to bring everything together and engage support, so it sought help from Creative Switch.

The solution:

We worked with Make it Write’s, founder, to create a brand idea from scratch – one that embraced the concept of childhood imagination. We developed and tested a joyful look and feel and tone of voice by copywriter Hannah Alexander-Wright that emphasises the power of the pencil and the limitless creative potential that it represents. We designed an eye-catching logo from the organisation’s initials, ‘M’, ‘I’ and ‘W’, and we used hand-drawn illustrations and a vibrant colour palette inspired by famous Disney concept artist Mary Blair to produce a brand identity that’s out of this world.

I engaged with Creative Switch to help rebrand my social enterprise called ‘Make it Write’. We wanted a playful, colourful brand which will evoke the art of possibility with creative design and thinking for students receiving donations as well as consumers using our products.

Kath combined her expertise in design and innovation management to create a brand that will cut across a wide range of customer segmentation and marketing channels which helps our not-for-profit organisation reduce costs whilst ensuring the majority of our effort is focussed on our social mission”.
