Brand identity for a children’s improvisation group, Anything Could Happen

The problem:

Anything Could Happen is an improvised storytelling group for children of all ages. Because their shows are created by the young storytellers in the audience, each one is completely unpredictable and hilarious in nature – and they needed a unique brand identity to capture that. Luckily, Creative Switch was on hand to help this new start up write their next chapter.

The solution:

We knew that the key to this brief was finding a way to represent the playful and rebellious dynamics of the show, the improvisation players and the audience. We achieved this by developing an energetic ‘splat’ as a logo which perfectly symbolises the brand’s energy and stands out in digital and physical environments alike. The branding is single-minded about colour, using only black and magenta across all touchpoints. The combination has a shocking, imaginative and impulsive vibe that makes it memorable, distinctive and fun. Accompanied by dynamic photography taken at live shows, the handwritten typeface feels instantly mischievous and creative.

The splat defines our brand so well! It feels rebellious, mischievous, like our players and audience and, like our improvised shows, it’s the best kind of messy. Our shows can be creative chaos! So, the splat truly captures what we’re all about.

We’re so pleased with our brand recognition, and we know our logo is standing out in a sea of posters or in a brochure, customers even get in touch to say their kids were so excited when they spotted my car with the splat on the side.

Having just pink and black as our brand colours also makes it easy to design on brand touchpoints like pink cushions, costumes and merchandise. Some returning audience members even dress in black and pink for the shows! Audiences love it. We love it”.
